Because no blog on writing, grammar, or punctuation is credible without mention of these rules, Gramlee proudly pays tribute to Frank&#8217;s contribution.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Avoid Alliteration. Always.<\/li>\n<li>Prepositions are not words to end sentences with.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid cliches like the plague. (They\u2019re old hat.)<\/li>\n<li>Employ the vernacular.<\/li>\n<li>Eschew ampersands &amp; abbreviations, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Parenthetical remarks (however relevant) are unnecessary.<\/li>\n<li>It is wrong to ever split an infinitive.<\/li>\n<li>Contractions aren\u2019t necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Foreign words and phrases are not apropos.<\/li>\n<li>One should never generalize.<\/li>\n<li>Eliminate quotations. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once said, \u201cI hate quotations.
